Martha Collison joins the BB team

We’re delighted to introduce you to the latest member of the Bramber Bakehouse team – Martha Collison!

You may remember Martha as the youngest ever contestant, and quarter-finalist from The Great British Bake Off. We first spoke to Martha 18 months ago after connecting on Twitter. She loved that Bramber Bakehouse combined baking and social action and was keen to get involved.

Since the GBBO, Martha has finished her new recipe book ‘Twist’ – available this Summer – and writes a number of food-based articles for Waitrose Magazine and many more.

Martha will be working on our signature BB recipes, as well as being directly involved in teaching women to bake the recipes she creates.

Like us, Martha is passionate about social justice and instantly caught the BB vision. Here’s a few words from the lady herself…

“Baking has completely changed my life over the last few years – enabling me to appear on national TV, create recipes for a leading supermarket and even writing my own recipe book. I love everything to do with baking, from sourcing the freshest ingredients to sharing the fruits of my labour with friends and family, and seeing the joy it brings them. It has been such an exciting time for me, but I know there is more to baking than pure indulgence: it can be a powerful tool to transform lives.

As soon as I read about Bramber Bakehouse, I knew it was something for me to get involved with. I think it is a beautiful thing when baking comes together with faith and starts to impact peoples lives, and BB strives to do exactly that. I’ve already been involved with anti-trafficking work abroad with the charity Tearfund, teaching vulnerable girls in Cambodia how to bake cakes that they can sell to generate an income. However, I think it is so important to understand that exploitation isn’t just happening on the other side of the world – it’s happening right on our doorsteps. I’m creating some delicious recipes to be taught, shared and enjoyed at Bramber Bakehouse. Giving women a second chance through the art of baking is an amazing beacon of hope in a world full of suffering, and I can’t wait to see and be a part of BB.”

We’re incredibly grateful to have Martha on team and we can’t wait to see what she’ll bring to BB.

We continue to see God at work through BB and we’re only just getting started. In the near future we’ll be sharing more about our new workshops – keep your eyes peeled!
